I had such high hopes for this product, but alas my oily eyelids had other plans.
I actually first recommended the Marc Jacobs Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel eyeliner to my sister before I had even tried it. She was looking for a black gel eyeliner that was super fine for precise application, and after swatching a bunch of options at Sephora we landed on this one.
I even remember the next time I saw her I asked “what eyeliner is that?” – it looked stunning on her, a fine, deep black line that flicked out just at the corners. I knew I had to have it.
I picked up the shade Blacquer during the Sephora VIB sale and was so excited to put it to the test, but almost instantly is started smudging on me! In fact, I’ve never had this level of transfer so quickly before with an eyeliner – it was shocking.
Yes – my eyelids are oily. And yes – if I don’t use a primer I can expect creasing with my eyeshadows. But when it comes to eyeliners I’m usually OK – which is why this was so disappointing to me.
I’m going to keep testing this out. I really hope there’s a way I can make this work, after all, it’s a beautiful liner. Have you had any troubles with this product? Or do you know of any dupes that are worth checking out? Let me know in the comments below!
