Ever since getting engaged I knew I wanted to find a special scent for the big day. I’m a huge advocate for fragrances that match moments – they’re a great reminder of a special time in your life – and now I can finally say I’ve found the one.
Bastide is a brand I hadn’t heard about until recently – it’s a french brand and brainchild of Frederic Fekkai and his wife Shirin von Wulffen. The inspiration behind the brand is allure of Provence, and that is truly what is evoked with every scent.
The brand has four different fragrances, but the scent I choose for my wedding is Ambre Maquis. It definitely follows all the characteristics of what I look for in a perfume. It’s warm and sexy, fusing notes of Tangerine and Elemi with patchouli, rich amber and creamy sandalwood.
The scent is described as evoking a feeling of a soft cashmere blanket wrapped around your shoulders on a cool Mediterranean evening, and I couldn’t agree more.
One of the things I love about this brand is how they describe their scents. From their website, the story goes, “During a candlelit dinner on the terrace of the Bastide, two individuals are sitting across from one another. A loving couple, a growing passion, or an eternal friendship – we will never know… All we feel is the steadfast force of their connection.” Such a perfect backstory for a romantic wedding.
Since choosing the fragrance I’ve discovered a couple of other products from the brand that I want to try – their Ambre d’Or PotPourri which uses crystals infused with the brand’s signature Ambre fragrance, as well as their Miel de Lavande hand and body lotion which is a lighter, fresher, floral scent.
If you haven’t already heard of Bastide, I would definitely recommend checking them out. I purchased my perfume at Holt Renfrew, but you can also order it online via Nordstrom.com! A+ Bastide, can’t wait to try more!
