Review: Milk Makeup Kush Fiber Brow Gel

Ladies and gentleman, gather ’round. It’s the battle of the brow gels. Squaring off is the OG Holy Grail Glossier Boy Brow vs. the new-kid-on-the-block the Milk Makeup Kush Fiber Brow Gel. Who will win?

Ok – in all seriousness, a couple of weeks ago I posted on Instagram about which brow gel people liked better. It was unanimous that the Glossier Boy Brow was the way to go. But I’m never satisfied with the status quo, so I picked myself up one of the new Milk Kush Brow Gels to put it to the test anyway.

When it comes to brows, I like to keep things fairly simple on the day-to-day. Just a little bit of tinted brow gel and I’m good to go. Despite being blonde, my go-to shade for Glossier was always brown, so when picking my shade in the Kush gel I went for a similar tone – Dutch (their ‘medium’ shade).

At first glance the two gels appear to be fairly similar. Same pocket-size packaging, same precise brush. I would say the Glossier brown is a little bit more cool toned, and perhaps slightly darker, but overall they’re a very close match.

Kush’s formula boasts some pretty bold claims – their heart-shaped fibers and conditioning cannabis oil is meant to thicken brows while giving them long-lasting shape and definition. Despite Milk’s Dutch looking slightly lighter than Glossier’s brown, I would say that the formula allows it to pack more of a punch when it comes to fullness, thus making it seem almost darker when worn.

I’ve noticed when comparing the two that the Glossier Boy Brow tends to look slightly more natural on me. As if I have naturally thick, well-groomed brows. Kush is definitely more of a ‘statement’ – I use air quotes for because in reality it’s still very subtle.

When it comes to picking between the two, I’m not sure if I have a clear preference. Glossier is two dollars cheaper, which comes in at $20. But Kush is readily available at Sephora, so you don’t have to worry about waiting for a shipment to come in.

I’ll probably end up sticking with Glossier, just because the tone matches my brows slightly better, but honestly I would say the Kush brow gel is definitely a contender and I’m sure I’ll buy it again one day! Great job Milk! A+ Can’t wait to try more from the brand!
