Masks nowadays come in all shapes and sizes. From clay masks, to sheet masks, nothing really surprises me anymore, and when I saw Dr. Jart’s Shake & Shot Rubber Mask I knew I would be in for a treat.
Okay, I’ll be honest, I bought this mask on a complete whim. I mean, the packaging kind of speaks for itself, right? But it’s what’s on the inside that really counts.
The mask comes in four different “flavours” so to speak – Hydro, Brightening, Firming and Soothing. I, of course, picked up the hydrating mask. If you’re looking for a quick, no fuss mask, these aren’t for you. These masks are better suited for someone looking for a little fun with their skincare routine. What makes these masks unique is that they are completely DIY. The “cream-to-sheet” formula (read: rubber) comes to life when you mix two different compounds together in the cup and give it a shake. The formula claims to penetrate skin more deeply than a traditional sheet mask, delivering high-potency active ingredients. Because the mask is freshly made, it allows the ingredients to more efficiently deliver benefits to your skin.
Each mask-cup comes with the two active ingredients. In the case of the Hydro-mask it’s a cocktail of Vitamin B5 (panthenol) and amino acids (called the Expert Moist Complex).
Once the ingredients are combined and shook, you have to apply the mask within 2-3 minutes. The cup comes with a spatula to help with the application process, and once it starts to dry the mask turns in to a rubbery-gel.
While on the skin the mask is incredible cooling, and once you peel it off, your skin is left feeling super soft and smooth, not to mention hydrated. Honestly, if this mask came in a less fussy delivery system, I could see myself using it every day.
It’s been a few days since I used the mask and I’m still seeing the results – a moisturized and revitalized complexion. When I picked up this mask my sister grabbed herself the Brightening version – I’m excited to hear her thoughts, and might end up picking up a few more to test out! Great job Dr. Jart on a very unique and effective mask – that’s an A for you!
