Review: Escentric Molecules’ Molecule 01 Perfume

I don’t post about perfume on here very often, so when I do you know it must be really special.

I have a very specific taste when it comes to perfume. I like a combination of musk, vanilla, wood, and amber – anything that resembles an incense really will do. I had heard about the Escentric Molecules line a while back, but for the longest time it was only available in other countries, and I’m not the kind of person who can just purchase a fragrance online and hope for the best. My favourite local beauty boutique, Jacob and Sebastian, recently started stocking the brand, and the moment I smelled the Molecule 01 scent I knew I had to have it.

Molecule 01 has quickly become my every day scent. The unisex fragrance has a very distinct musky, woodsy, amber scent, but the key ingredient behind this cult classic is one single note, Iso E Super.

What is Iso E Super? It’s an aroma-molecule that doesn’t exist in nature – it was created in a laboratory in 1973 and originally used in small portions in other perfumes. What makes Molecule 01 so unique is the fact that it’s made entirely of Iso E Super.

The best thing about Molecule 01 is that it really smells different on everyone. The fragrance’s claim to fame is the fact that it melds with the wearer’s natural pheromones, which is also why some people can pick up on the smell a lot more than others. Of all the perfume’s I own, I have been complimented on Molecule 01 the most, and I always find it very interesting to see who can actually pick up on the scent.
Escentric Molecules also created a number of other fragrances, Escentric 01 (which is made of 65% Iso E Super), and Molecule 02, 03, and 04 – which all feature unique aroma-molecules of their own! If you think you have a similar taste in fragrances as me, I highly recommend checking this one out!
