Meet the Benefit #Benefaves

Benefit is one of those brands that always finds its way in to my makeup collection. So I was super happy when Influenster told me they were sending the Benefit #Benefaves box my way.

At first I wasn’t sure what to expect, but when the VoxBox arrived in the mail I was very pleasantly surprised. The box comes with four of Benefit’s most popular products – the POREfessional face primer, They’re Real! mascara, ka-BROW! cream-gel eyebrow colour and the cult classic Hoola matte bronzer mini.

Before receiving this box I had already tried out the They’re Real mascara – in fact, it’s really what spurred my love for Benefit. This mascara both lengthens and volumizes, and with it’s plastic bristle wand you’re able to coat every lash with perfect precision. I didn’t open this tube right away (I’m still going through a few other mascaras), but I’m excited for it to make its way back in to rotation.

The POREfessional face primer came in a mini sample size, and while it’s not my favourite primer it certainly does the trick. Like the name suggests, it’s main draw is its ability to minimize pores. But this primer can be a little too mattifying for my super dry skin and I have to use it sparingly. If you have a more oily completion however, it might be worth trying out.

The ka-BROW! cream-gel eyebrow colour was a new addition to my makeup collection. I’ve used the Anastasia DIPBROW pomade before, which is a similar concept, but I typically go for a more subtle brow look on a day-to-day bases. This product is great if you have very sparse eyebrows and are looking for a big pigmentation payoff. I think the best part of this product is its packaging – it might just appear to be elaborate, but the stem of the lid actually doubles as an eyebrow brush. While this won’t replace my beloved Anastasia #12 brush, it’s a great option for traveling. As for the product itself, I don’t think it’s as creamy as DIPBROW, but it’s a great substitute if you’re looking to try something different. I was given the colour 3 – Medium, and while the shade is right, the tone is a little too warm for my eyebrows.

Finally, and most certainly the star of the show, was Benefit’s Hoola matte bronzer mini. This bronzer has been on my Sephora Loves list for way too long – and I’m not sure why I never picked it up before. This is a perfect matte bronzer for every day looks. It has great pigmentation and gives you a perfect matte healthy glow without muddying up your complexion. The mini comes with a tiny brush which you can use to contour, but I prefer applying the bronzer with a bigger, softer brush, blending it on to my cheeks and forehead. If you aren’t sure about this bronzer I definitely recommend checking it out – particularly the mini, which is a great travel size!

As usual, great job Benefit. I can’t wait to see what innovations you have for us in the future.

I received these products for free from Influenster for reviewing purposes, but as always, all of the opinions are my own.
