Review: Tarte Shape Tape

I recently made my way south of the boarder and of course you had to know my first stop would be to the local ULTA to pick up illusive (and exclusive) Tarte Shape Tape.

I know, I know. “ULTA ships to Canada now!” But I wasn’t sure about my shade and let’s be honest, there’s something special about shopping for makeup in person.

Shape Tape is by far one of the most hyped up products on the market, and it’s probably at the top of every beauty guru’s must-have list. But sometimes you have to see to believe. And I’m thrilled to say, I’m a believer.

Meant to act as a contour, highlight and concealer (depending on shade), the full coverage formula is hyper long-wearing and blends like a dream. I picked up two shades, fair and fair neutral, for both my winter and summer skin tones, and right now with a slight tan the fair neutral works perfectly to cover up my dark circles and redness.

The wand is definitely something to get used to with product. The doe-foot applicator is much larger than it’s competitors, which makes it easier to sculpt and highlight, but more difficult to precisely conceal. I even find myself sometimes applying too much product if I’m not careful.

But even with a lot of product this concealer looks incredible natural. It never makes me feel cakey, never creases, and lasts all day. Honestly I don’t know what more I can ask for when it comes to a concealer. It’s going to be hard to top this one. A+ Tarte! Well done!
