If you’re a beauty junky like me, I’m sure you have a horde of your own samples. But for those not in the know, here are a few useful tips to up your sample stash game.
First, and probably most important, sign up for Sephora’s Beauty Insider program – it’s the golden goose when it comes to sample collecting. And see what rewards programs your other favourite beauty and skincare stores offer. I personally love the L’Occitane program, which offers you rewards if you spend certain dollar amounts online or in store. And now that Ulta ships to Canada, you know I’ll be stocking up with them.
A lot beauty brands will also independently offer samples with purchases directly from their website – take Bobbi Brown for example. Temptalia does a great round up of deals and discounts if you’re wondering what’s currently available.
Simply signing up for these programs is great, but it’s not the only thing you can do. You can also ask at many beauty counters if they have any samples when you’re checking out. Shoppers Drug Mart, for example, offers a lot of different samples, and all you have to do is ask.
Plastic sachets are one thing, but if you want to get your hand on some deluxe samples, there are a few other things you can do. Sephora in particular offers 3 sample sachets with every online order (in addition to anything you use your rewards points on), but did you know their mobile app offers deluxe samples as well? Always look at those before you cash out to see what’s available.
Then of course there are samples for test groups – which more often than not are actually full sizes. Influenster, for example, sends you products to test out and review. Don’t expect to get free samples from them every month, but the more active you are with your reviews, the more likely you are to be selected. (BONUS: they don’t just send out beauty products to test – whatever your interests, there’s a “badge” for you).
These are just a few of my top tips to get started with your own sample stash. What are your tips? Leave them in the comments below!
