What a truly bizarre product. There’s not many products I review on here that I don’t already know I like. I put in a lot of research before I go out and splurge on new beauty. But I was recently gifted the Kevyn Aucoin Brow Gel Pencil and I truly don’t know what to think.
Let’s get one thing out of the way right off the bat – this isn’t your typical brow pencil. Don’t except anything like the Anastasia Brow Wiz. This brow pencil is a wax-based gel pencil that shapes brows that leaves a semi-matte finish.
I have the colour Sheer Ash Blonde – in fact, all of the colours in the range are sheer. They even have a clear version, which should give you more of an indication of the type of product this is.
The pencil applies a very sheer amount of colour to the brow, with a waxy gel-like consistency that sort-of sticks to the brow hairs. The texture almost reminds me of a sticky brow gel – and is likely the main component to the stay-all-day formula. And boy does it stay. If I apply this in the AM, but the time I get home my brows haven’t budged.
The pencil also comes with a strange angled brush on the other end, where you would typically see a spooly. Personally, I would prefer a spooly, and end up using the one on my Anastasia No. 12 Eyebrow Brush.
So, is it worth the $39 price tag? No. There are a bunch of mixed reviews online, but if I’m going to splurge I would rather spend it on a Brow Wiz. Is there something you love about this brush? Let me know in the comments below!
