Review: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

I caved. I finally caved. Finally, after a year of humming and hawing I finally got my hands on the coveted Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, and there are absolutely no regrets.

It’s been so hyped up for over a year now, and at first I was wary of picking up the palette because it’s so warm toned (with bold pinks and berries), and I tend to only wear neutral shadows. But I’m so happy I bit the bullet.

First, the shadows themselves are super soft and buttery. Some people have mentioned noticing fall-out with these shadows, but It’s not something I’ve really experienced yet. I tend to go for the more neutral shades, like Golden Ochre, Burnt Orange and Buon Fresco, but I love that there’s a wide range of colours to choose from. The shimmers are the perfect amount of shine, and the mattes don’t look chalky.

I wish the wear time with these shadows was a bit longer. Without a primer, by the end of the day most of my lid is bare, with just a bit of shadow left in the crease. With a primer though, these shadows do a great job of sticking around throughout the day.

Bonus, the eyeshadow brush that comes with the palette is actually pretty decent, which was a lovely surprise!

All in all I’m very happy with the palette and can’t wait to experiment with more eye looks. I only wish I had picked it up sooner!

Fantastic job Anastasia! That’s an A for you!
