Review: Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish

Two nail posts only a few weeks apart? I’m not mad. Lately I’ve been loving painting my own nails. And Essie’s new Gel Couture nail polish has really changed the game for me.

These polishes are designed to last, and boy do they ever. The polishes come in 42 shades and span from sheer pinks to rich reds. My favourite shade is Sheer Fantasy, a sheer pink, similar to OPI’s Bubble Bath (one of my other go to’s).

But the best thing about these polishes is that they don’t chip. I like to change up my colour every few days, but this can easily last 5-7, which for me, is an eternity. I’m sure they would like closer to two weeks if you treated your fingers with more care than I do.

The key to the longevity of these polishes is the top coat (seriously, don’t bother with these if you’re not using the top coat). The quick drying top coat helps seal and protect the colour, and has a super glossy finish, just like professional gels.

The other great thing about these polishes, is that they don’t require any soaking. They’re slightly more stubborn to remove than your basic nail polish, but any acetone-free remover will do the trick!

Overall, I’d rate these polishes an A+! Good on ya, Essie!
