I thought I would start off this blog (and yes, apologies for the exceptionally long delay), with step one of my beauty routine. Skincare! My skin is something I’ve always taken pride in. I’ve been blessed with a fairly challenge-free face. In fact I think my biggest skin concern has to do with the occasional bout of eczema.
But regardless of how amendable my skin may be, it’s important to me that I invest in products that will promote a healthy complexion (and when I say invest, I mean it). In fact, you’ll notice that a majority of my skincare is high-end. Nothing against affordable brands, it’s just what I find works best for me.
So lets start with cleanser. There are two different kinds of cleansers I use. In the morning I tend to use my Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. This has been in my routine for about a year now. It’s gentle enough for daily use but still feels like it really cleans my face!
In the evening, my go-to to remove my makeup and cleanse in one step is The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. Now this is a holy grail product for me. I’ve tried so many different cleansing oils, but nothing holds a candle to this baby (bonus points: it’s the most affordable bit in my bunch).
If I’m looking for a little extra exfoliation, I reach for my Darphin Age-Defying Dermabrasion. This is a very coarse exfoliant, so I don’t use it often, but once in a while it’s nice to clear off all of that dead skin.
Up next is another Darphin product (that Darphin saleswoman knows how to do her job), and that’s their Intral Toner with Chamomile. GUH! The smell of this stuff is TO DIE. It’s so luxurious, like a spa in a bottle. I’ll use this morning and night to tone my face after cleansing!
For moisturizers, I keep going back to Kate Somerville’s Goat Milk Cream for my daytime moisturizer. It feels so light but really hydrates my skin like no other moisturizer can.
In the evenings I’ll reach for my Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil. This is a new product for me, but I’m really loving it. The smell isn’t my favourite, but I’m noticing a big difference in my skin – especially with those fine lines around my eyes. This product is also 100% vegan, soil association organic certified, and of course, not tested on animals!
For my eyes, I’ve been using the Caudalie Polyphenol Anti-Wrinkle Eye & Lip Cream. My number one favourite part about this product is that it comes in a squeezey tube and NOT A POT! The product itself is lovely, super hydrating yet light, but it’s the tube that sold me. One of my biggest pet peeves is having to dip my finger into a pot! YUCK!
That being said, my next skincare favourite DOES come in a pot. HA! I just love the Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm SO much that I can get past the packaging. This lip balm is ultra (see what I did there) hydrating, while still being semi-matte, which is amazing especially if you’re putting it under a matte lipstick.
One thing you’ll notice missing from my skincare routine is a serum. I really love the Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum, but the only reason I haven’t purchased my second bottle, is that I have my eye on the Kypris Antioxidant Dew. Tell me, if I get it would you like to see a review of it? Do you have any serums to recommend? I would love to hear! Leave a comment, or hit me up on twitter at @CourtneyParkes
